Tomlinson Public Service District, a water department located in the New Manchester, WV area, is seeking a qualified individual to do maintenance work for the District. It is preferred, although not required that the individual live within the boundary area of the District. Experience working with water departments is not required. This will be a full-time position. Also, the District is seeking a part-time, as needed, employee for a flagger for traffic control. TOMLINSON PUBLIC SERVICE DISTRICT

 

POSITION 1: MAINTENANCE AND WATER DISTRIBUTION EMPLOYEE

CHARACTERISTICS OF POSITION: Under the supervision of the Manager, the Maintenance and Water Distribution Employee is to maintain a safe and reliable water supply meeting all state and federal guidelines.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. The Maintenance and Water Distribution Employee will be responsible, under the supervision of the Manager for the general maintenance and repair of all distribution lines, customer service lines, meters, water towers, pumping facilities, and meter reading.
  2. Be available to assist in all leak repairs including.
  3. Receive and respond to calls concerning water distribution problems.
  4. Be available to respond to water distribution emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 day per year.
  5. Be capable of checking all pumps daily, at a specified time, at all pumping stations and perform daily required chlorine testing.
  6. Perform general maintenance as instructed for pumps and generator at pumping stations.
  7. Assist the Manager in maintaining mandated tank water levels at all times.
  8. Assist the Manager with leak detection.
  9. Assist with exercising valves, flushing hydrants as needed
  10. Read water meters monthly.
  11. Any other duties assigned by the Manager relating to water distribution and system maintenance.

POSITION 2: PART TIME /AS NEEDED FLAGGER

MAIN DUTIES:

  1. The main duties will be providing Flagging along water line construction sites. The duties related to the flagging position vary and include but are not limited to placement of traffic signs, directing traffic with the use of signs and hand signals, and informing the construction crew of any safety hazards. Supervised by Manager.
